Many
writers talk about something called ‘writer’s throw-up’. It’s when a writer
simply writes about whatever first comes to mind, without pausing to edit this,
delete that. It is the time when ‘true ideas’ come out, or the time when we
write like we think.
Writer’s
throw-up may be messy, but there are pretty things inside all of that nonsense
you just wrote in your notebook. Maybe a touching sentence about human nature
that you want your character to say, or maybe an idea you will (eventually)
elaborate on. With writer’s throw-up comes an idea, and from an idea comes
amazing stuff.
